More Expansion in UWS League Two
Two teams added to the New England & Mid-Atlantic Conferences
METUCHEN, NJ – Two more teams have joined the Summer 2021 lineup in United Women’s Soccer (UWS) League Two. The inaugural season of the new developmental pathway for players in the U20-U23 age group continues its rapid growth with further additions to the New England and Mid-Atlantic Conferences, respectively. UWS League Two is under the umbrella of the national pro-am league and also serves as the official league for UWS reserve teams.
Founded in 2004, Spirit of Liverpool USA (SLFC) is a Premier Soccer Club based in the Central Mass/Northeastern Connecticut and Rhode Island areas. Currently, SLFC has close to 30 teams ranging from U9 to U19 age groups. Spirit of Liverpool USA's mission is to provide its members an affordable premier soccer experience with an opportunity to develop their soccer abilities, train in a competitive team environment and to compete at the highest possible level regardless of gender, ethnic background, race, religion or socioeconomic status. They continue to seek out opportunities to give their players pathways to success in the game, such as this.
The newest League Two member will join Aztec Soccer Club, New England Futbol Club (Red & White), South Shore Select, Upper 90 Soccer Academy (U-23 & Women), Bayside FC as well as the UWS reserve teams for the Albany Rush, Connecticut Fusion and Worcester Smiles in the New England Conference this summer.
"Spirit of Liverpool is excited at the opportunity to be a part of the movement in the women's game,” said President and Women's Head Coach Bernie Grimes. “It's great to be able to offer another high level pathway for our current female players and we are just as delighted to offer the same opportunity for our Alumni currently playing in local Colleges and Universities throughout New England."

Virginia FC is entering UWS League Two for 2021 with aspirations to compete in the first division of UWS in 2022. Operating out of Central VA, the women's team joins the U23 Men's team as the top of the developmental pyramid providing a goal for the high performing club players to reach following their rise from U6 Foundations through their U19 Academy team programs. As an international academy partner with EPL's Southampton FC (SFC), Virginia FC emulates SFC's curriculum and best developmental practices to build a strong foundation in all their players along with a tactical understanding and competitive mindset to prepare them for college, the U23 senior team programs, and professional opportunities at home and abroad.
